Erin has a clear vision of what her style is. “I usually stick to black and white, mostly pencil skirts and palazzo pants,” she says. “My outfits are usually straightforward but I always wear different coloured heels to make the outfit more eye-catching. I tend to wear things that are more classy and bold on the weekends.” She gave up her full time job to become a freelance graphic designer, trading in the 9AM to 1AM days and people management for something a little less hectic. While Erin does get to manage her own time nowadays, she acknowledges that she almost never stops working — she even brought her laptop along on her recent trip to Bali. Working with different clients also requires a bit of compromise, sometimes. “I love being able to express myself through the works I do, but sometimes the clients are just not on your side about anything at all — that’s when I lose out on expressing myself.” It can also get tiring trying to think of creative solutions and ideas day in and out, so Erin says that she would love to try her hand at being a fashion advisor or someone’s personal shopper. “I’d love to go out and make people look better and interact with people for a change,” she says. “But even then, I’ve always told myself that I was born to be a graphic designer and I will make sure when I die, I die being a well-known creative director.”
