“Difference is my reference,” Laurie says; even with just her statuesque build, it’s easy for her to stand out. We like Laurie’s punk-chic ensemble, where she pairs shiny black pants with a simple top, chunky leather bracelets, and pulls it all together with an oversized denim jacket. “I always go for pieces that are a little bit more edgy and structured, with a play on materials.” It is thus no surprise when Laurie shares how she used to work in the fashion industry back home in Paris; she made the switch to marketing and events since arriving in Singapore three years ago because “it’s not easy to break into fashion here.” “If I could, I’d definitely return to being a stylist. I love giving fashion advice to people around me, and my friends always call me when they’re in doubt!” Laurie tells us she’s happy living in Singapore, and really enjoys our warm climate. “I can’t stand winter, especially the Parisian winter.” She does miss her parents, however; ultimately a family person, Laurie has both her parents’ birthdays tattoo-ed on each wrist, keeping them close to heart. In parting, we asked Laurie to share something unusual about herself, and in contrast to her edgy, leather-bound persona, she’s got a couple of charming, down-to-earth quirks: “I am absolutely obsessed with pineapple, and I hate when people touch my nose. ”

  • Here is my pride of joy! I’m the first one to call her when I need advice to dress well. Even if I’m 10 000km far… I love my sister!
