“French?” Noémie replied with a laugh, when asked to describe her personal style. She clearly isn’t exaggerating; Noémie shares that almost every item in her ensemble comes from her homeland of France. “I like to look natural and smart, with just a little make up—not too much.” Since moving here three years ago, Noémie’s style has changed to accommodate the different climate, brands, as well as prices, though design remains an important consideration. Now a lawyer in a shipping company, Noémie would love to open a dance school if she could. “I used to dance jazz and ballet, but didn’t pursue it professionally here because the income is not enough to survive on in Singapore.” Noémie hasn’t given up on her hobby though, and still dances in her free time. She tells us that work can occasionally get stressful, and when that happens, she seeks respite in meditation, a practice possibly influenced by the best piece of advice she’s ever received. “A friend told me to learn to love myself and find peace within me. Now, I’m trying to always respect myself and listen to my heart.” Strong words to give Noémie direction, made even more striking as she’s currently going through a divorce. With peace in her heart and positivity on her mind, Noémie’s excited to start a new chapter in her life, and we wish her all the best.
