Marie describes her personal style as “as low-maintenance as possible”. “Less loud, statement pieces and a lot more basic, minimalist pieces. I’ve also started wearing colour a lot less, simply because it makes mixing and matching a lot easier!” Marie has just graduated with a degree in communications, and is now looking for “a job that doesn’t feel like a job”. But if she could do anything in the world, she’d be alternating between singing and dancing in theatres, and travelling the world. “Dancing gives me almost immediate relief; it has become an important way for me to stay sane.” Marie shares, however, that there was a time where her dance practice overwhelmed her, and what started as a hobby became a source of stress. Toeing this fine balance between her passions and her limitations is something Marie’s still trying to learn. With a belief that “everything will make sense in retrospect”, Marie once wrote a letter to her 16-year-old self, detailing some sound advice to be resilient and have faith in life. If there was anyone Marie feels she could depend on, it’d be her family; the small “V” tattoo — the Roman numeral for ‘5’ —  she has on her wrist acts as a reminder to always put them first. Till now, the best advice she’s ever received comes from her mother. “Choose kindness,” says Marie. “She didn’t exactly tell me that, but she surely exemplified it.”
