SHENTONISTA OF THE YEAR 2014 — Top 10

The Shentonista of the Year 2014 contest may be over, but before we announce the grand winner, here’s a look back at all the stylish folks who made it to the top 10, in chronological order.

The Shentonista of the Year, the runner-up, and the top commenter each win a bundle of joy from the lovely clients we’ve worked with the past year, worth up to $800 and including the likes of We Need A Hero, The Working Capitol, Club Monaco, K.BLU Swim, Crocodile, N.Tyler, Heineken, and The Business Times.

#01. 08 February 2014: Condemn Her Not — Sharmaine

Despite referring to herself as a couch potato who lays in bed all day, Sharmaine was definitely one cool chick to meet. Counting Erin Wasson as her style inspiration, and Fab Ciraolo and Sébasien Preschoux as two of her favourite artists, Sharmaine draws influence from all over. Read more about her here. 

#02. 16 February 2014: Old is Gold — Zi Xiang

Zi Xiang attributes his kooky style and love of anything vintage to his girlfriend. Her quirky dress sense brings out the inner grandma in me – that’s my interest in vintage pieces! Old is almost always gold.” Read more about him here.

#03. 01 March 2014: Taupe Benefactress — Debra

Deborah’s personal motto — “always give thanks and give back” — constantly reminds hers to stay grounded, to be grateful and to give back to society. Read more about her here.

#04. 07 March 2014: Forest Fairy — Linna

“I’m a traveller, collector, and forest wanderer,” Linna says. “If I could have some kind of magical power, I’d like to be able to go anywhere in the world in a second — I’d love to visit all kinds of forests!” Little wonder, then, that Linna’s style is heavily influenced by her love of the forest. #05. 28 March 2014: Sheer Genius — Melanie

In a flirty little black dress with a bewitching mesh v-back and patent black cork platforms, Melanie’s look is simple but beguiling. A bright red sling bag gives her outfit a pop of colour; a scarf adds flair. Read more about her here.

#06. 03 May 2014: Spotted! A Wild Cat — Farah

If Farah was an animal, she’d be a cat. “Not a cutesy lil’ munchkin one,” she clarified, “But a wild cat.” Read more about her here.

#07. 09 September 2014: Old is Gold — Lin Tong

We caught Lin Tong on one of the rare days, she says, that she isn’t dressed in a cheongsam or like an 80 year old lady. “I have turned up to work as though I work in the 1960s, and no one has said a thing.” Read more about her here.

#08. 13 September 2014: Flower Girl — Valerie

We spotted Valerie the florist cradling a bunch of sunny blooms on a rainy afternoon. Not only does she get to cheer people up on the job, she also works from home, which means she can practically wear her pyjamas to work. Read more about her here.

#09. 19 September 2014: A Cut Above The Rest — Michelle

With her pixie-cut hair and laser-cut dress, Michelle is a picture of edgy sophistication. It helps that she picks out her outfit and accessories the night before, even though her husband always says she takes “too long” to get dressed anyway. Read more about her here. 

#10. 02 October 2014: Cool Cat — Bryan

Bryan is dressed to the nines, but weekends are a different matter. “I’m perpetually in sandals and sweatpants,” he says. “Because it’s nice to be able to chase after public transport for once.” Read more about him here.
