“I have no style,” Lauren says. “I’m not kidding; I’m usually dressed in a very boring way. My standard work outfit consists of Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dresses.” When probed, though, Lauren describes her look as “classic and minimalistic, with a mix of bold prints”, and says she has a preference for natural fabrics like silk and linen. Her outfit today exemplifies that style: breaking up an elegant all-black ensemble with a floral scarf as a belt, it is classic with an unexpected twist. While Lauren seemed a little surprised when we approached her, she is definitely no stranger to the camera, having appeared in several local commercials before. In fact, despite her quiet demeanour and somewhat serious choice of professions — a former legal counsel, currently working for an international humanitarian aid NGO — Lauren actually loves stand up comedy, naming George Carlin, John Mulaney, Chris D’Elia, Joan Rivers, and Louis C.K. as some of her favourite comedians. She has even tried her hand at performing a few times. “My friends haven’t dumped me yet, so I’ll probably continue.” Some words of advice from the lady with a sharp sense of humour? “Just Do It, that slogan by Nike. The worst and best piece of advice, ever, hah!”
