Globe Trotter

Valerie makes it clear from the start that travelling is what she enjoys most. In fact, she has already started laying out her travel plans for 2016. “It’s always fun planning out my trips at the start of the year.” The Chinese national is quite the globe trotter: she previously spent 9 years schooling in Singapore, before moving to Australia for work. Of all the places she’s been to, New Zealand is her favourite. “It’s beautiful and the weather is great.” Valerie is currently working with a global company, which requires her to travel frequently — great for satisfying her wanderlust, but not so great when it comes to a work-life balance, as she mentions that she’s always incredibly busy. On the side, Valerie says she has always been interested in designing, and tries to make time for her hobby. Whenever possible, she designs and tailors her own clothes, possibly to suit her style, which she describes as “simple, with a touch of sophistication”. We see that carried through in her look today, her sleek black jumpsuit softened with a tinge of feminine pink. Valerie used to wear more colours, but says her style has changed over the years. “It’s also become simpler in terms of style and design.” When it comes to shopping for workwear, Valerie says that design comes first. “Materials come after. If something catches my attention instantly, I will probably get it.”
