Joanna describes her personal style as simple and basic, “verging on boring”, she says. “When shopping, I’m drawn to basic colours like shades of blue, grey, and white.” She usually looks out for designs that are simple, yet intricate. “The devil is always in the details. I think my personal style has simplified over the years; I now pay a lot of attention to quality and finish.” Joanna is currently working in finance, although, if she could, she’d love to be involved in “something that improves the way that people live.” Her readiness to affect change and make an impact on others seems to stem from her personal motto of “living deliberately”, and one of her favourite quotes comes from Henry David Thoreau: “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away.” It’s clear that Joanna’s all about forging her own path, regardless of what others might say or think; if she had a chance to speak to her younger self, she’d say: “Love yourself, read more, never stop learning, and just become.”
