Playing with accessories has long been our go-to method for personalising any look: necklaces, bangles, and statement earrings are among the usual suspects we tend to reach for. But, as these Shentonistas show, there’s a new accessory that’s been in the spotlight recently: the simple scarf. It may have humble origins—to protect against the elements—but this versatile piece can be easily worn in our tropical climate for a fresh spin on any outfit. Think differently: knot one around your neck, scout-style, and add a dose of youth into your ensemble; tie skinny scarves around your waist for a fun take on the usual belt; or wrap a bold, patterned one around your head for a quick fix for a bad hair day. And who’s to say a scarf can’t be worn underneath your jacket, in place of a tie? It’s not so much about keeping warm, anymore, but having a scarf in your repertoire of accessories will earn you some serious style points. Luxe or casual, fun or sophisticated, the possibilities are endless.
