Tell us more about yourself:
I’m working in IT in a bank, and I’ve only been in Singapore for about five months—I left Australia last December for a contract position here. I’ve always wanted to live in Asia, so I took on the challenge.
What’s something not many people know about you?
I’m not very active on social media—I don’t like to expose my private life, because anything can be sensitive information. When I do post, it’s for friends back home who want to know how I’m doing.
How’s Singapore been so far?
The first impression is always that it’s really warm. It’s good to have the sun every day though, so I’m not complaining. I’ll be here for a year before moving back to Australia, so I’m getting used to it. I used to buy a lot of clothes in Australia, but I haven’t bought anything so far in Singapore, though I’ve been checking out a few vintage shops.
You travel frequently—what’s a piece of travel-related advice you’d give to others?
With good planning, any trip is possible. And don’t travel just so you can see new things, travel so you can have new experiences.
Do you have any any upcoming travel plans?
I’ve actually travelled quite a bit—I went to Thailand for the New Year, and I have plans to visit Cambodia, Malaysia, and Vietnam. That’s the best thing about Singapore, really, that everywhere in Asia is so close to you.
Have you broken any New Year’s resolutions yet?
I never do New Year’s resolutions—I think resolutions are meant to be broken, and to me, the new year doesn’t have any significant meaning. You can make good resolutions any time of the year, so why wait till the next year?
