You’re a property agent. How long have you been in this industry, and what do you like most about it?
I’ve been a property agent for 14 years, and I enjoy dealing with commercial properties and helping clients with their asset progression. I also enjoy dealing with different buildings, so being a property agent suits my character, and is rewarding too.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job, and what’s the most challenging?
The most rewarding part is that I get to help people find their ideal property, or solve their property-related issues, especially during the COVID period. Of course, this is also challenging sometimes because the issues can be complicated.
Having been in the property industry for so long, what drives and inspires you to keep doing what you do?
I believe that we should just do whatever makes us happy, don’t procrastinate, and take action while we still can. Each day we get through is one less day we have on Earth, so I cherish every day I have on Earth, live life to the fullest, stay happy, and have no regrets. My advice to everyone is that you must listen to your heart!
What does a typical day in your life look like?
My daily routine is to have tea and bread for breakfast. I try to eat and sleep well everyday, and also have proper bowel movement. In Chinese, there’s a saying that goes “能吃、能睡、能拉(屎)、 就是福”, which means that as long as you can eat, sleep, and clear your bowels, you’re very fortunate. Nothing beats these three things!
You mentioned you’re also studying metaphysics. What is the most surprising thing you’ve learnt from it?
It’s amazing that people from 2,000 to 3,000 years ago were very, very smart, and had a deep understanding of our universe, the natural elements, and cycles. Those people wrote books to share their vast knowledge selflessly, and when you read these ancient texts, you can really feel the energy and vibes that they give you! We’re all connected as people, from the past or present, like dots.
You also mentioned that you like action movies like James Cameron’s Aliens and John McTiernan’s Predator. What are some of your favourite scenes from these movies?
I feel like both of these movies are some of the most timeless films made, with a good plot and directorship. All the actors did a good job too.
In Aliens, I liked the courage of Ridley and the little girl, Newt. I also liked the scene where the queen from the elevator ride followed them into the dropship, and Ridley fought it and expelled it into space. In Predator, I liked the scene where Dutch went up against the predator by setting up traps in the rainforest. The song in the helicopter scene is also a classic—Long Tall Sally by Little Richard!
How would you define your style?
I would say I got my dress sense from fashion shows and videos since the 1990s, but nowadays I get inspiration from YouTube videos (laughs). I appreciate good cutting and unique designs that are timeless, and that I can wear it for up to 10 years.
Some of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe are my COMME des GARÇONS PLAY peek-a-boo camouflage heart t-shirt, which is a super comfy cotton t-shirt, my Womb grey cotton irregular cut alibaba bottoms, my COS white cotton shirt with a mandarin collar, and my Beyond The Vines olive cotton jacket and collarless shirt.
