Tell us more about where you’re from and what brings you to Singapore.
I’m from Lyon, France, and I’m taking a gap year here in Singapore.

I’m studying political science in school, and I got my Bachelor’s Degree, but I wanted to travel overseas and take one year off to think about what kind of Masters Degree I want to pursue, and what I want to be later on.

But now in Singapore, I’m working as a waitress at Bouef, and I also model on the side.

How are you liking Singapore so far?
I’ve been here for three months now, and I think Singapore is a good city. It’s very safe, especially for women, and it’s quite clean too.

These days, it’s good for parties too (laughs). The last party I went to was an Afro party organised by a bar at Boat Quay.

How else do you like to spend your free time here?
I don’t have a lot of free time because I only have two days off work, so I basically just enjoy the pool in my condo (laughs). I also like to meet some friends and go to parties, things like that.

What are your thoughts on the local food here?
I love the food. In France, I used to eat a lot of spicy Asian food, so it’s not really new to me.

I used to be vegetarian, but I have to say satay is the best thing I’ve eaten here (laughs).

When I arrived here, I wanted to be healthy, and I was worried about having deficiencies in my body because of my diet, so I started eating meat here.

How long were you a vegetarian before this?
I was a vegetarian for three years—that’s long.

But it wasn’t hard for me to start eating meat again because I really like meat. I was just vegetarian because of the environment, and also because I love animals.

Do you have any pets back in France?
Yeah, I have a little dog in France. I miss him (laughs).

He’s a Lhasa Apso and he’s very cute. His name is Gremlin, like the movie because his behaviour is like the gremlins (laughs).

What’s your favourite part about your city?
The city is perfect actually, because I don’t really like Paris.

The architecture of everything in my city is like Paris, so it’s like the small version of Paris, but people are nice, unlike Parisians. Parisians are very snobbish and grumpy, but people in Lyon are very chill.
