What’s your favourite part about working in marketing?
I’m someone who cannot do the same thing everyday, so I like that this job provides a lot of stimulation. I really enjoy the whole creative process of brainstorming and building on ideas.

How do you like to unwind after a tiring day at work?
Some nights I’ll indulge in alcohol before I go to bed. I usually go for Makgeolli (Korean rice wine) or a Whisky Sour, which is my favourite cocktail. I like it with Laphroaig Scotch whisky as it’s very smokey, but my boyfriend says it tastes like hospital-grade sanitiser (laughs).

What are your hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy doing yoga, and I’ve started reading yoga-related books too, just learning more about the philosophies and sutras about the mind, body, and spirit, and finding a modern take on traditional teachings.

I like exploring museums as well. One exhibition that caught my eye recently is Now Is Not The Time, an homage to our founding father, Lee Kuan Yew. I’m hoping to give it a visit when I have the time.

You mentioned that you enjoy thrift shopping too. Where are your top three places to thrift?
Australia—I’ve probably been to every Vinnies charity shop in Australia andJapan. I usually go to the ones in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo and Sydney.

Share with us your best thrift find.
It’s got to be the typewriter I thrifted in London. Yes, I stuffed it in my luggage and brought it all the way back to Singapore! (laughs) It’s my prized possession. I’ve been using it to write heartfelt messages for my loved ones on birthdays and special occasions.

Also in London, I scored a blue vinyl of one of The Beatles’ album. Back then, I thought coloured vinyls were very rare, but I’ve seen the same vinyl quite a lot afterwards, so in hindsight, it wasn’t really a score lah. But I still remember feeling very pleased about it in the moment.

What’s one thing you’ve learnt about yourself this year?
In a recent philosophical moment, I realised that with everything I do, I’ll always do my best and then surrender it to fate in the end.

In life, no matter how hard we try, things don’t always happen the way we want, so we just have to let the situation take its course.
