Tell us where you’re from and what brought you to Singapore.
I’m from Sarawak and a Biological and Biomedical Science student at a university in Scotland. I just moved to Singapore a couple of weeks back for a study programme and will be completing my degree at the National University of Singapore.

Share with us more about your time in Scotland.
I made a lot of friends and really enjoyed myself there! I lived near Edinburgh, where there’s a sizeable underground music scene; I spent a lot of my time going for gigs and discovering small local artists, some of whom I’m still friends with now.

Now that I’m in Singapore, I hope to further explore the music scene here once I get settled in.

What’s next after you graduate?
Well, I don’t know. I might get some work experience or continue studying—I haven’t quite decided yet.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I need a lot of alone time and I like to spend me-time listening to podcasts, watching video essays on YouTube, drawing, doodling, sewing, or playing video games.

Apart from that, I love travelling and being out at sea! I like to scuba dive back in Malaysia and in Indonesia. I tried diving in Scotland too, but it was way too cold (laughs). I also went sailing with my cousins on our recent trip to Greece.

Give us a podcast recommendation.
I enjoy listening to the most random things (laughs). Currently on my Spotify playlist is Kermitment — A Muppets Podcast, a show in which two friends have made a lifelong commitment (get it?) to watch every single piece of Muppet-related media out there.

How would you describe your fashion style?
My style is definitely very different to most people in my university course. I’m really into marine biology too, so I like to accessorise myself with bits and bobs that I’ve picked up on my travels, like my fish bone and dolphin necklaces. I also get a lot of inspiration from my younger brother, who knows way more about fashion and stuff.

I typically buy clothes from charity shops and I’d often end up customising them, cutting seams here and there, dyeing, and stitching them all up again.
