What do you do as a KYC Analyst?
Know Your Customer (KYC) is part of compliance functions, especially when it comes to the financial side of businesses. I’m currently working at TikTok to help collect customer information for TikTok Shop and other entities. It’s quite a niche job because people don’t usually see what’s happening on the backend.

How did you get into this role?
I started my career in banking and finance way back and discovered the compliance sector, which I found very interesting due to the many rules and regulations in place. I tried pursuing a job in crypto later on, but left because the company wasn’t doing as well as they had expected to.

That led me to my current job at TikTok, which is a new field for me. Back in banking, all the procedures are already set, but in a new industry like fintech, there’s a lot more freedom for innovation and everything is open to interpretation.

Fun fact about me:
I really enjoy cleaning the house (laughs). I find the whole process very fun and it helps to calm my mind. Seeing things become cleaner after a wash makes me damn happy!

We hear that you have two rabbits at home! Do you plan on getting more pets?
Yes, I have two Holland Lops. They’re the ones with the droopy ears that are super cute! When my wife and I are at home, we’ll let them roam around the whole house. That’s how I usually spend my weekends—playing with or cleaning up after the rabbits.

We’re considering getting more animals, but having two is already quite a headache to manage with the fur and everything (laughs).

I’m currently studying for a diploma within the compliance field, which I hope to complete this year. I took another one last year too, but felt like there was still room to grow, so I’m just signing myself up for more and more classes because it’s important to keep up-skilling.
