Introduce yourself!
My name is Anemone, and I’m from Hangzhou, China. I’m in Singapore for a holiday, but I’m currently working in the media, and I intend to start blogging more actively, to document my travel adventures in different countries. I also run a little fashion business with my friends, working with Chinese silk. I do sometimes design the pieces, but I don’t do any of the tailoring, pattern drafting, or manufacturing. We design modern qipaos and everyday pieces. We also design contemporary tops.

We hear you’ve been on an extended trip. Where else did you travel to in this time?
I came over from Thailand, and before that, Korea. I’ve been travelling for quite a while actually—it’s been a while since I’ve been home in China.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy experiencing and immersing myself in local cultures that are different from what I’m used to in China. I also enjoy making new friends in different countries as I travel. I think this is both a hobby and a passion of mine.

Do you have any recommendations for foreigners visiting China?
For everyone who enjoys spicy food, I’d recommend Sichuan and Chongqing. And for everyone who can’t quite take the heat, but rather prefers foods that are cleaner in taste and soupier, I recommend Suzhou and Guangzhou. The foods there would be more suitable for those with a preference for milder foods.

And for those who love flowers and nature, Yunnan would be a good place to visit. The flora and fauna there is amazing! Yulong Snow Mountain is in that region too. The Changbai Mountain region is a lovely place to visit too as life there is so intertwined with the natural environment, but I’d recommend going in the winter. Harbin is a great place to visit too—it’s really lit this year!
