Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Lucky, I’m an applied economics master’s student from NUS, and I’m currently doing my internship.
Tell us about your internship!
I’m doing an internship at Butterfly Effect, the Chinese startup that created the general-purpose AI agent, Manus. I previously did an internship in the same company in China, but I came back to Singapore to finish my classes. However, since they recently opened their headquarters in Singapore, I’m continuing with my internship here!
How long have you been living in Singapore?
I was here for a year but had to return to China to apply for leave of absence for a year. I came back after that.
How has your first year living in Singapore been?
I think the weather is really hot and wet, very humid.
Are you a fan of that?
Not really (laughs).
Compared to China, is it cooler there?
I think it’s cooler in the summer.
Which part of China are you from?
I’m from Southern China, Changsha, Zhejiang, Hunan province, but last year, I lived in Beijing for a year.
Is there a particular country you would want to live in?
China (laughs).
So you’re keen to go back home?
Yeah, I can’t wait to go back! I want to finish my education, get my certificate, and go home.
What do you miss most about home?
The food.
What food would you recommend for a person who’s going to your province?
Actually rather than food, I’d recommend the nightlife.
Interesting! Why nightlife?
I think people in Changsha are kind of laid back and are open to having fun. The cost of living there is also quite low compared to Singapore.
Cool! We have to find some time to visit then. Last question, now that we’re nearing the end of the year, what’s a life lesson that you’ve learnt this year?
I’ve learned that doing physical activities like climbing or swimming can be a great way to relax. If you make them a regular part of your routine without overdoing it, you’ll start to feel better.
