We love your style! Can you tell us how you discovered your love for Lolita fashion?
For me, it wasn’t a sudden revelation. The clothes I wore had always included elements of Lolita fashion—lots of lace, pastels, and frills. Over time, my style naturally evolved, and eventually I realised that what I was wearing was Lolita. That’s when I started researching the subculture, really diving into learning and understanding it. The more I discovered, the more my love for the style grew, and now I truly enjoy wearing it.

It really suits you! What do you like most about the Lolita style or subculture?
The style is just really pleasing to my eye—I get to wear pink from head to toe and look cute! Before discovering this style, I hardly ever wore dresses, but once I got into it, I started wearing them much more and found that I really enjoy it.

When you wear these kinds of clothes outside, people are definitely going to stare. But over time, it actually helped boost my confidence. I realised it doesn’t matter if people look at you—they’re going to stare anyway, so you might as well wear what you want to wear!

Agreed! Where do you usually get your outfits from?
I’ve found a lot of my pieces on Carousell—I love the app! You can find quite a bit on Mercari too. There are also many affordable options on Taobao for people who are just getting into the style, and that’s where I get a lot of my items from.

Do you have any favourite Lolita fashion brands?
My favourites are probably Angelic Pretty and Baby, the Stars Shine Bright, but there are also a lot of Chinese brands that I really like. I can’t recall the names right now because they’re in Chinese (laughs).

Is there a particular clothing item you’d like to add to your wardrobe?
There’s this one Angelic Pretty jumper skirt that I’ve been looking for for a really long time, but it’s super hard to find. I forgot what it’s called, I only remember the name having the word chocolate inside (laughs).

Well, we hope you find it soon! Now that we’re rounding off the year, what’s something that you’re looking forward to next year?
I really hope I get to do an internship at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) or the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), because that’s what I really want to pursue in the future. And also starting a language course in Thai.

Cool! Why Thai?
I’ve always really liked listening to Thai music and watching Thai dramas, so I’ve just been slowly picking up the language over the years.

Would you say it’s a difficult language to learn?
Not really. I think if you speak Chinese, it’s slightly easier to learn!

Who are some of your favourite Thai musicians?
I really like the band Tilly Birds—they had a concert in Singapore last year. I also really like listening to BLACKBEANS, a relatively young indie band. Also nowadays, in a lot of the Thai dramas, they have the actors sing the official soundtrack, and I really love those songs too!

Interesting! What dramas are you currently watching?
I recently finished watching this series called Rearrange. It’s a story about a guy who travels back in time to meet the guy that he really likes again. I would recommend it because the story is good and it’s adorable, but also because you can watch it for free on YouTube!
