Learning The Ropes

Tell us a little about yourself and what you’ve been up to lately.
My name is Razzi, and I’m currently 21 years old. I’m just chilling, you know? At least until my NS comes up.

Before this, I was onboard a ship for six months for my internship. It was a pretty crazy experience because it’s a completely different environment away from home. When I was done, I came back home and got a part-time job doing events and productions at Sentosa.

Those sound like two very different experiences! What did you enjoy about them?
They’re both such different fields, but I enjoyed being onboard more. I got to do what I like, which is engineering stuff.

For the events job, I enjoyed the people. Everyone was really welcoming, from the performers to the full-timers.

What was life onboard like? Any wild experiences?
Nothing too crazy! But one of the wilder experiences was having to work 15 hours straight in a day, which was really very tiring. It taught me that you really have to be independent, mentally, physically, and emotionally. You have to plan ahead and make sure that you get enough rest.

Was engineering something you always wanted to pursue?
As a child…I always wanted to be a police officer (laughs). I don’t know why! I just wanted to help my community and society.

But over time, that changed. I started looking into the engineering side of things, and I realised I really like all the technical and mechanical stuff that comes with it.

When I was onboard the ship, I had to do a lot of maintenance and understand the processes of everyday life onboard, as well as all the equipment involved. That’s the kind of stuff I enjoy.

Lastly, how do you go about styling yourself?
Honestly, I just put it all together! There’s nothing specific. It’s just things that I think look nice.
