An Authentic Approach

Introduce yourself!
I’m Ad, I’m currently a Year Two student doing Fashion Business at NAFA. My plan is to go to UAS after I graduate! I like to live life spontaneously, day by day. So I don’t really plan for the future. (laughs)

Do you have any projects in fashion that you’re doing on the side?
I alter my own clothes sometimes. When I buy something, I’ll just alter it and try to make it better. I buy my clothes from ‘actual’ thrift stores, so no curated stuff.

There’s one spot in Upper Changi called Re:Nue—I like to go there because I want to save money. Whatever looks good, I’ll wear it!

What are your thoughts on Singapore’s fashion scene?
You know… Singapore can be a little, uh, judgemental sometimes. But we’ve got to ignore those judgements and just be ourselves. Explore what you like and just be free. We should be the voice of change, and we should make that change by doing it.

Any other hobbies or interests outside of fashion?
My main hobby would be sewing. And I also want to try getting into growing a mini garden since I have a basil plant right now. Growing plants is a hobby, I guess?

I love cooking, and I love to learn. So I think my hobby is to learn and to waste my time on new activities, and to try to do something that I haven’t done before. I’m always bouncing around.

Is there anything else you want to accomplish for the rest of 2026?
I want to accomplish being my authentic self and being fully comfortable with myself, and not let external factors change who I am. I would really like to get to that final point. With what I’ve achieved so far, I would say I’m 75% there.
