We hear you’re an avid cosplayer—tell us more about how you got into it!
Oh my God, I started when I was 13 in secondary school. I’ve been cosplaying for 15 years! I got into it because my friends in school liked anime. Initially, I was cosplaying anime for two years, and then after a while, I started getting into a lot of Western series, so that’s what I usually cosplay nowadays.

Interesting! Which characters do you usually cosplay?
My new fixation this past year has been Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. That’s honestly how my account grew—just last year it was still pretty small, but because I kept cosplaying characters from those series so consistently, the account started to take off. So that’s basically all I’ve been cosplaying recently, and it’s been really fun. Last year, I even went to America to meet friends I made online through the fandom!

Do you like to cosplay these series because you enjoy watching them too?
Yeah, of course! I only cosplay characters that I really love and am passionate about, so a lot of the photoshoots I do for them have a lot of soul. I don’t cosplay just to look pretty—I genuinely enjoy bringing the characters to life and making the costumes. Most of the outfits you see on my account are actually made by me.

Oh wow, you sew everything yourself?
Yeah, I can sew, I can do props, wigs, and everything in between. I’m quite an all-rounder I’d say!

We love an all-rounder! So which costume took the longest to make?
I can’t remember the one that took the longest to make, but in recent memory, it’s this one character called Lucifer from Hazbin Hotel. I made the whole costume from scratch, literally everything! It was difficult because the structure made it hard to sew and the lining and the rest of the details were very specific.

Anyway, when people say long, they usually think a of couple months, but for me, it was only a of couple weeks. I make my things really fast when I know what I want to make, so I’ll just go all the way (laughs). I’d say the maximum I take for a costume is about a month.

Impressive! Is there any other character that you’d like to cosplay as that you haven’t?
As of now, not really. Season 2 of Hazbin Hotel was just released, so we’ll see if any of the characters inspire me to cook up some new outfits.

What kind of anime or shows do you find yourself gravitating towards?
I like the grittier shows. Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss are both adult series, so there’s a lot of swearing, love, sex, and drugs in them—it’s an adult show lah.
