Ask And You Will Receive

When it comes to dressing for work, Lynn believes that it’s more about understanding and respecting the dress code at work than fitting into the mould. “I weave in my own personal style, within the parameters, by playing with accessories, silhouettes and pops of colour,” she says. “Depending on where you work, understand the culture and find a style to suit it. Be creative; there’s no hard and fast rule, which I guess is the best part.” Previously from the creative industry, Lynn is now working for a bank, and gives these pearls of wisdom from her time at work: “Save the arrogance, and lose that sense of entitlement. Be curious; ask, and for the most part, you will receive. And never forget your roots — how you started, and the people that helped you along the way.” When it comes to managing a work-life balance, Lynn says she attains hers by being organised with her time. “I work together with my friends and family to carve out time. But to my friends who may be reading this  — I’m sorry if I haven’t seen you in a while, let’s block out some time to meet!” She tells us that she makes meeting friends a priority because she likes to collect their stories. “There’s so much to understand and glean from their lives.” And although she doesn’t get to do it as often as she wants to these days, she loves being at the beach to soothe her soul, or to go surfing, her favourite surf spot being Bali.
