I’m a jewellery designer. I’ve been doing for almost 20 years!

That’s a long time! What do you enjoy most about the work that you do?
Jewellery is a very personal item, so I like that I can do my best to create something special for each of my customers.

Do you have a favourite gem?
Yes, I like tourmaline. There are many variations in colour, so each tourmaline gem tends to have a mixture of colours—it’s very unique!

We understand that you live in Tokyo, Japan. Why did you choose to open up shop in Singapore?
Oh, that’s a good question! The business, Fujimori Kajita, is originally based in Japan, but my business partner Kengo and I wanted to try expanding overseas. We were looking for a country that spoke English, had a good economy, and where the people have good sense in choosing jewellery, so Singapore was an obvious choice.

If you could expand anywhere else in the world, where would it be?
The United States!
