Besides finding a balance between comfort and looking professional, Cherin finds that her biggest challenge, when it comes to dressing for work, is trying to stay away from her favourite colour — black. “Pastels, nudes and monochromatic shades are my next-favourites; they’re easy to wear, pair and wash!” The co-founder of LAANK, an interior design company, Cherin has come a long way, packing tons of industry and personal experience beneath her youthful façade. “Over the years, I’ve learnt that every day I wake up with two choices — to continue in sleep with my dreams, or to wake up and chase them.” Perhaps it’s this active pursuit of her passions that has led to Cherin’s satisfaction with where she is today. “This year feels like the year for me to push forward fearlessly,” she says. “Career-wise, we’re breaking new ground with more projects on an international level, and of bigger scale, with plans in place to start up a new business venture. Other than that, I also have to pull off my wedding that I’ve spent so little time planning!” Running a business is never easy, however, and when the going gets tough, Cherin takes strength from this quote she came across: “He gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.” If she could speak to her 16-year-old self, Cherin would say, “Seize every day and live in the moment, love yourself before others, and be strong enough to let go and wait for what you deserve.”
