Don easily stands out from the crowd, and not only because of his impressive height. Dressed impeccably despite the afternoon heat, he scoffs at any excuses that Singaporean men make for not dressing up. “I think it’s ridiculous. Most Singaporean guys dress really badly. Just because you wear one Gucci belt does not make it okay.” Don plays around with accessories like cufflinks, ties, and pocket squares to pull his outfit together, and believes that having well-fitted basics form the foundation of any good workwear wardrobe. He should know—a fan of tailor-made clothing and mixing prints and textures, he gives us a handful of recommendations of his favourite places to go to for customisable, quality clothing. True to his interest in DIY, Don likes looking for non-mainstream labels and supports local brands as well, but says “it’s so sad because they keep going out of business.” He seems quite content with his job and his work-life balance, but when asked about what alternative careers he would pursue, he says: “Realistically, I would be in PR, or writing for a fashion magazine. Slightly less realistically would be to design my own line of menswear.”
