Can you introduce yourself?
Hello, my name is Aniq and I’m 20 and studying Creative Direction in Fashion at LASALLE College of the Arts.

What got you interested in fashion?
I really enjoy dressing up, but I didn’t really know whether I wanted to be in fashion or not. Once I graduated from secondary school, I dabbled in fashion for a bit, and from there, my love for it grew.

Tell us more! Was there a particular moment where that interest grew?
Since I hang out with film kids, at first, I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to pursue fashion. But as I got more involved in it and started mixing with everyone in the field, I realised I genuinely enjoy fashion—not just how it looks, but the whole process and every aspect of it. I find that I really connect with it, and it keeps pushing me to improve and grow as a person.

Interesting! Is there a particular designer that you look up to?
In terms of the style, I like Simone Rocha. I also recently gained a newfound admiration for Robert Wun. I went to the Next in Vogue event which had a panel with him, and I really enjoyed his talk because of how real he is. You’d think as a designer, he’d be very atas (snooty), but it’s quite nice to learn that he’s just a normal person like all of us.

Yeah, they’re just like us! Do you have any fashion holy grail pieces that you’d love to add to your wardrobe?
There are these Simone Rocha balloon pants, I forget which season they’re from—I’m pretty sure they’ve been around since 2022. That’s when I started loving balloon-shaped pants, the way they’re so flowy but still structured.

As for shoes, there’s this one pair I’ve been eyeing—a collaboration between NO/FAITH Studios and Puma of their talon sneakers. It looks so beautiful, but it’s expensive and sold out, so it’s not really an option for me.

What are some fashion brands that you look to for style inspiration?
In terms of my everyday style, I can’t really stick to just one brand because my fashion interests change regularly. Some days I’m into streetwear, and other days I really enjoy Japanese styling because of how creatively they play with colours. It really depends on how I’m feeling that day. So I don’t really follow a specific brand for inspo, but if I had to name one, it would probably be Korean brands like YESEYESEE.

Interesting! Tell us what’s the vibe for today?
I actually wanted to go denim-on-denim today, but my friend has my denim jacket, so I’m just wearing this crop top that I found in my closet. Honestly, I’m wearing it mostly because I didn’t want to get too sweaty (laughs).

Real! In terms of your career, is there a particular direction that you’re working towards?
I really want to be shooting editorials and shaping the creative direction for magazines. This is what I’m interested in right now, but I think as life goes on, I’ll become more certain about what I want and where I should be heading. For now, this is the direction I’m moving towards.
