Eastern Promises

A standout with his loose, billowy silhouette and organic palette, Bei Ling strikes us as a naturalist and artist in his own right. Reminiscent of buddhist robes with its relaxed drapes and rawness of forms, colours and textures, his ensemble truly speaks of his character – a profundity and worldliness that comes across when he speaks briefly about his works. Bei Ling describes his style as ‘relaxed and personal’, and counts Chinese artist Cui Xiuwen and American writer Susan Sontag as inspirations.
