Introduce yourself!
My name is Ming and I’m 21 this year. I’m currently a Communication Design student at Temasek Polytechnic. In terms of hobbies, I used to dance a lot. I would do K-pop dance covers with my group of friends, but we’ve toned down now and have been on hiatus since we’re all busy with school. Now I’m just focusing on myself, working on my crafts and school projects. In fact, I’ve become more academically-inclined this year!
Interesting! What kinds of crafts do you do?
I mostly edit videos and pictures and stuff using Adobe. I actually used to have an account on social media where I would share my motion graphics and other video projects.
Oh, cool! How did you first get into this?
When I was in primary 6, I already had my eye on communication design as a course I would want to pursue, because I knew I was set on doing something more creative from a young age, so that’s how I gradually got into it over time.
We love how you knew what you wanted and stuck with it! Let’s talk a bit more about K-pop now—what kind of dance covers did you do?
I’m more of a versatile dancer, so I would say I do both boy and girl group dance covers. It really depends on the vibe and style of the song. For K-pop covers, I just do it because it’s fun, and I’m able to dance with my friends! We have dance practices together, and we hustle and encourage each other. I think that’s the most valuable takeaway I’ve gotten from K-pop dance—it’s not the part where I’m dancing in front of a crowd and there are cameras flashing at me, though that part is fun too because it’s like my five minutes of fame (laughs).
Oh, we can imagine! So where do you see yourself after graduation?
Before starting poly, I was in ITE doing visual merchandising, which is also a marketing and design course, so what I’d want to do after graduating is design some products of my own and run my own business. Who knows, maybe you’ll spot me at one of those flea markets and events held in expo halls in a few years!
We hope we do! What would you sell?
Recently I did some projects related to stickers. It was quite fun to design my own stickers and print them out, so maybe that? I’ve also worked with 3D software, so maybe I’d do something like 3D-printing accessories?
Finally, what are your goals for 2026?
Create more art, earn more money, and have more fun!
