Taking a cue from her favourite fashion bloggers Jag Lever and Le Happy Style, Marlene’s ensemble is a fine example of girlie meets grunge. Dr. Marten boots? Check. Ombré pink hair? Check. Coloured tights? Check. A floral embroidered denim shirt further reflects her sweet, girlie personality. An aspiring fashion designer, Marlene recently started familiarising herself with the sewing machine, trying her hand at simple alterations and stitch-work. “My pants are too loose and some are too long,” sighed the petite girl. “I’m having some difficulty with the alteration, the stitching instructions are a big pain and I can’t figure out why my stitching keeps going crazy!” Holding her teacher’s words — “No one can foresee the future but we can build the roads towards our dream” — close to heart, this little lass is pursuing hers soon; she starts her Fashion Design studies come August.
