We hear you’re currently studying fashion in Temasek Polytechnic. What first piqued your interest in this field?
The movie The Devil Wears Prada, which I’ve seen twice now! But I’ve always been interested in design, especially in fashion. I love sketching and I’m always inspired by the clothes people wear. I feel like it’s a great way for me to express how I’d like to carry myself.

In the future, I want to be a fashion designer or a fashion stylist, working with women’s apparel because I really love dresses and feminine silhouettes.

What would you say is your personal style?
I feel like I don’t really have a personal style—maybe not yet. Right now, I’m exploring all different styles from street wear to dresses.

But I do like the brand SHUSHU/TONG. I think their style of clothes is very cute.

What you do think about the fashion scene in Singapore?
I think it could be better. I feel that most guys just opt to wear the UNIQLO Airism tees and girls have recently just chosen to shop at Brandy Melville, which just reopened in Singapore.

When I was in Kyoto and Osaka in Japan, I noticed that even their casual fashion is very nice. Their layering is very deliberate and put together and not just randomly mashed together.

How do you like to spend your time outside of school?
I hang out with my friends. We’ll have fun at photo booths or even go to sing karaoke, stuff most people do. We also like to go thrifting, usually in Bugis or Lucky Plaza, or The Hammock Market which has a lot of good stuff—I always buy a lot when I’m there.

Are you looking forward to anything year?
Halloween Horror Nights! I love dressing up for Halloween, though I haven’t decided what I’m going as this year. Maybe the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland or Marie from The Aristocats?

Recently, I’ve started to get into face makeup, face painting, and everything. So now dressing up becomes a whole set, from my makeup to my outfit to my hair.
