We hear it’s your first time in Singapore?
Yeah, it’s actually my first time travelling overseas. I’m from Guangzhou, China and I’ve only travelled locally, but I thought that Singapore would be a good first stop because there isn’t much of a language barrier.

How are you liking it so far?
I’m enjoying my time here! I’m surprised that I’ve found quite a number of people who speak both Mandarin and Cantonese here, and it’s pretty clean too. I also got to try bak kut teh (pork rib soup) for the first time, and when I took my first sip of that soup, wow—Michelin-worthy!

Tell us about your favourite place in China that you’ve been to.
I feel like the best places to visit are those with huge natural landscapes, like snow-capped mountains, sandy deserts, and rolling green fields. It always leaves me speechless.

Wow, they do sound breathtaking! Do you prefer big cities or nature, in this case?
Both are good, just as long as there’s a certain aspect of the place that makes me go wah seh (laughs).

For tourists visiting Guangzhou for the first time, what’s one spot you’d recommend they visit?
I think Dongshankou would be good. There are lots of people there who love to dress up, like me.

Any other stops on your first journey overseas after Singapore?
I’ll be heading to Phuket, Thailand before heading back home.
