Pushing Forward
You’re from Indonesia—what are some things that you’d recommend people do or see when they visit?
I’m from Jakarta, which is a good city for young people to hang out. There’s lots of bars, restaurants, and places to relax.
What are some things you like about Singapore?
I like that my children are safe here, and they can grow up with access to education, healthcare, and other necessities. One thing I don’t like about Singapore is the pace of life—everyone’s always busy and working all the time.
What’s something that isn’t taught in schools, but that you believe everyone should learn?
We must believe in ourselves and learn to love ourselves. It’s important to respect ourselves more than anything.
If you could change one thing about your past, what would it be?
If I could travel back in time, I’d want to be able to attend my late father’s funeral.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Life is a choice, and whatever we choose, we must remember that God is always there for us. Life goes on, and the suffering that we experience will pass with time to make room for happiness.
