We couldn’t help but notice Mandy in this ankle-grazing, deep-blue dress with a full, pleated skirt, which made quite a statement as she walked. She knows that her dress is the focal point of her look; her chunky necklace and simple, pointed heels merely serve to frame the outfit, as does her neatly bunned up hair. Mandy was born and raised in Brunei, and moved to Singapore 10 years ago to pursue her university education. “I really enjoyed growing up in Brunei,” she said. “Things were slower and simpler.” Not that she’s ready to go back anytime soon, though. “I ran a lot when I was younger, there wasn’t much to do,” she says. “As an adult, I don’t think there would be much there in terms of a social life — they don’t have clubs that sell alcohol, for example, so parties there were mostly small, home affairs.” We think there’s still some charm in a life lived slow, and Mandy seems to have grown up well.
