You just moved here from the Netherlands a few months ago—what do you like about Singapore?

I like that it’s so central in the region, and it’s easy to travel to different parts of Asia from Singapore. I like that everything is so organised and everything is so accessible; it actually doesn’t feel all that different from European cities aside from the people.

What’s the biggest difference between life here and in the Netherlands, where you’re from?

I don’t have my family here with me. But I love the food here, I especially love Punggol nasi lemak.

What do you miss most about home when you’re away?

Biking along the canals in Amsterdam. I like that it’s easy to cycle everywhere, which isn’t always the case here.

Not to treat people differently because they might look different, dress differently or practice a different religion. Be open towards people, and not judge people before you’ve had the chance to understand them.

What do you like about vintage and thrift shopping?

That you often have to dig through a lot of trash to find your treasure, but the moment that you come across an item you really like makes it all worth it.
