Setting Sail

How could we not spot Saddiq with his natty knitted tie and quirky, vintage-looking box bag? Saddiq says he often likes to add a cute touch to his outfits, and challenges himself to buy mostly things that are on sale. Another personal challenge: to rewear the same shirt as many times as possible, in as many different combinations and looks as possible. “You can literally wear the same shirt with different ties each day of the week! I like to experiment with different ties, especially knitted ones, like the one I’m wearing. Pocket squares also come in handy, especially when you’re wearing the same few blazers,” he says. “I’ve only two pairs of shoes, so the challenge is to mix and match my shirts and pants with my shoes.” It’s nice to see that Saddiq manages to have fun with his look even in the office, and he says he’s learnt a couple of things from work as well. “Take things one step at a time,” he says. “You’ll start to enjoy observing how things are done and discover interesting things about your colleagues. One of the biggest and most useful traits I’ve picked up would be perseverance in the face of challenges. Keep calm and move on!” Another thing that helps him keep calm is by managing his work-life balance well. “I make it a point to knock off on time. Work never ceases, so why stay late at the office when tomorrow beckons yet again? Always have some time for yourself no matter how busy you are. It can be as simple as setting aside 15 minutes to enjoy coffee.” Interestingly, Saddiq calls himself an introvert, but says he enjoys public speaking. “I like to go for long walks in the park thinking of the latest speech I’m about to present.” Perhaps it’s something to do with how he tries not to an inhibited life. “Live for the moment for it shall never exist again.”
