What is something you’ve learnt in your years as a early childhood educator?
Being an educator means that you’re learning for life. You always need to keep up with what’s relevant and apply it to the kids, which is why it’s so important to have a growth mindset. Carol Dweck is the woman behind that and she changed my life.
Share with us an interesting encounter you’ve had with a child.
I’m a huge Disney fan, and once I unintentionally had a duet with my 4-year-old student when I played Disney songs from my phone. We passionately belted out A Whole New World and Beauty and the Beast together, and we knew all the words! (laughs)
What life skills are rarely taught but extremely useful?
How to cure a hangover!
What’s one of the most interesting concerts you’ve been to?
I just watched Bruno Mars recently. I basically had heart-shaped eyes throughout the whole thing watching him dance.
If you could invite three people to your fantasy dinner party (living or dead), who would you invite and why?
Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation, Charles Boyle from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Phil Dunphy from Modern Family. They’re the funniest fictional characters ever!
