What are some important lessons you’ve learnt from your work?
Work in itself is not difficult, but interacting with people and managing your relationships with them is important.
What are some of your favourite brands?
Comme des Garçons, because it feels like there’s something for everyone with so many different lines, though my favourite is the men’s collection for how avant garde the designs are. I also like Engineered Garments, which puts a modern spin on classic American workwear.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to go hiking. At least once a year, I try to travel to Japan in the summer to climb the mountains there. For places within the region, Hong Kong is great, because you can easily plan for a half-day hike. One fairly easy and enjoyable trail in Hong Kong is Tai Long Wan, which is out in the New Territories. It’s about a four- or five-hour trail, with scenic views of the beach.
If you had to be stranded on a desert island, what are three things you’d bring with you?
A tent, a knife, and matches!
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?
Don’t worry about the small details, because things will work themselves out.
