Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Ephrem, I’m 20, and I’m currently a year 2 student in the Creative Direction for Fashion course at LASALLE.
Cool! How has it been studying fashion?
It’s been fun! We get a lot of new opportunities and exposure. Recently, we went to the next-in-Vogue event.
Sounds fun! What got you into fashion?
It’s a basic answer, but it’s always been an interest for me. Besides that, I think it’s a medium that’s always changing and evolving, which I enjoy.
Do you have a particular designer or brand that you’ve been loving lately?
Recently I’d say it’s Sandy Liang. It’s a very interesting brand—playful, but also nostalgic. I like the little elements and details that they do.
How would you describe your style?
I’d say my style is minimalistic and clean. I try to be playful once in a while, but I always find myself going back to clean, baggy silhouettes with child-like accents.
We see the Sandy Liang influence! Besides fashion, do you have any other interests?
Before I came into fashion, I used to study film, so that’s another interest that I have. I occasionally do videography.
Interesting! Why didn’t you continue pursuing film?
I studied and worked in production during ITE and realised that the lifestyle is just not for me.
The hours can be quite extensive! Then was there an adjustment period for you between doing film and fashion?
Honestly, no. The course that we’re in right now has a lot of video-based exercises. So I guess my background in film has been quite helpful. I think it was quite easy to adapt.
Nice! In terms of your career, where do you see yourself after graduation?
I mean, right now I’m still figuring it out, but I’m torn between PR and journalism. The last case scenario for me would be going back to film (laughs).
