The Little Things

Tell us more about where you’re from, and how long you’ve been in Singapore!
I’m from Osaka, Japan. I’ve been living in Singapore for about six years now.

That said, I do go back to Japan quite often—I’ve already been back four times this year, in fact! Though I love Singapore, I miss my friends, the food, and of course, the weather back in Japan. Singapore only has summer, but back home, we have all four seasons.

What do you appreciate most about Singapore?
I met my husband here! We met on a dating app and got married just last year in December. It’s been blissful just getting to enjoy the time we have together.

Congratulations! Are you both planning to travel anytime soon?
Yes, we’re planning to go to Japan (again) and Korea. We didn’t get to travel so much, especially after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when it was difficult to, so I’m glad that we’re taking the chance to go now.

Anything else you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy running, watching Netflix, and cooking—but only Japanese dishes. If you ask me, good Japanese food in Singapore is just too expensive!

Oh, and of course, playing with our cats. We have four altogether now, because we’re actually helping our friends to look after two of theirs. It’s funny because I thought I was a dog person, but after we got the cats, I’m a cat person now (laughs).
