Tell us a bit about yourself!
I’m currently studying events management in Republic Polytechnic, and I’m in my third year of poly. When I have the time, like during my holiday period, I also work part-time at a café in Bugis.

Why did you choose to study events management?
Actually, I didn’t know what I wanted to do, so I chose to go with the flow (laughs). I thought that since I like going for events and concerts, events management would be a good choice for me.

Now that you’ve been studying it for over two years, do you see yourself pursuing this after graduating?
Yes, but I hope to enter the wedding industry instead! I think it’s very nice. But also, for my school internship, I’m hoping to intern at the National Stadium, so that I’ll have the chance to manage concerts—fun!

Fun! Let’s talk a bit about your part-time work—why did you decide to work at a café?
I usually enjoy going to cafés and drinking iced chocolate in my free time, so I thought it would be nice to actually work at a café too. The place where I’m working at is very chill, and my bosses and colleagues are all very nice, so I enjoy it.

Give us a café recommendation!
I’m still searching for my favourite one, but No Strangers Here at Sultan Gate is quite nice. They serve matcha too.

Cool! We’ll definitely check that out. How are you feeling knowing that you’ll be graduating in just a year?
I’m very scared, actually. I don’t feel prepared, but okay lah, I’ll just go with the flow and have my friends with me. I actually hope to further my studies after poly, but if I don’t have the capacity to, then I’ll just start working full-time.

Outside of school and work, what do you enjoy doing?
I just started rollerblading as a hobby! So I like to go around with my friends to places like Marina Bay Sands to rollerblade. I was just sitting and scrolling through TikTok one day and happened to see a lot of rollerblading videos, and thought it was really cool, and that’s how I decided to pick it up (laughs).

Love the spontaneity! One last question: you’re 21 now, but where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hopefully in a really, really stable job, living a happy life.
