Then And Now

Tell us more about where you’re from and what brings you to Singapore.
I’m from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and I’m here on a holiday with my boyfriend. It’s my fourth time in Singapore, and I like it a lot.

My boyfriend grew up here, but this is the first time we’ve been here together. We made a promise to come to Singapore 10 years ago when we were still just friends, and now we’re here together for the first time.

How did you and your boyfriend meet?
We met in Vietnam. We were friends for nearly seven years before we officially got together. We’ve been together for about three years now.

What’s your favourite Singaporean food to eat?
I like Chinese food. I just tried Tien Tien Chicken Rice, and I like it.

How about Vietnamese food?
My favourite Vietnamese food is pho. I don’t cook a lot at home, but I know how to cook pho.

What do you like to do on the weekends?
I like to go have coffee with my friends, and bring my dog out. He’s a little dog, fully black. His name is Nikko, like Nikko Hotel (laughs).

Tell us more about your outfit.
My hat is from Vietnam. It’s a local brand—Ananas. The top was taken from my sister (laughs). The skirt is my mom’s—it’s older than me! And I made my bag myself.

I recently started to crochet, but I just make things for myself. I don’t sell them.

Do you usually share clothes with your sister?
Yes, usually. She is six years older than me, but we’re very close. I only have one sister.
