How did you decide to pursue a career in investments?
I studied finance in university, so it kind of just happened and I’ve been in this industry for about six years now, focusing on sustainability and climate.

I think the investment industry can give the impression of being nasty and unkind. While that can be true in certain areas, there are pockets of the field, of which I happen to be in, that serve a bigger purpose. It’s what I foresee myself doing for a long time as I like that the job is very dynamic, intellectually engaging, and meaningful.

Is sustainability something that you personally value too?
Yes! My family and I care a fair bit about sustainability and the environment, so it’s great to be doing something that aligns with my personal values.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I like being active, so when I get the chance to take a break, I like to go diving, snowboarding, and just be out in nature. My friends and I recently went camping at Lazarus Island and had so much fun cooking outdoors!

Other than that, I also enjoy reading and doing yoga.

What book would you recommend to someone who’s trying to pick up reading?
Normal People by Sally Rooney, a fictional novel about adolescence. I watched a few episodes of the miniseries and after finding out that it was adapted from a book, I decided to pick it up on a solo trip.

I breezed through the book! It’s a really easy read, and even though the characters are all super flawed, the story is very real and engaging.

How did you get into diving?
Back in my first job, my boss was really into diving and always talked about his dive trips. I thought it sounded super interesting and decided to go get my diving certificate one day.

I recently went diving in Lombok and it was an incredible experience. I remember seeing so many different kinds of fish that were extremely colourful and iridescent!

Is there anything you’re looking forward to this year?
Nothing in particular stands out right now, perhaps a dive trip that I’m planning, although there’s no concrete plans for that yet. It’ll be really cool if I can spot sea turtles or hammerhead sharks this time round!
