“Being on Shentonista is something that’s always been on my wishlist!” Anjali enthused, obviously excited despite it being near the end of the day. She tells us she isn’t sure she could pinpoint her personal style, even though her friends seem to be able to identify one. “When I go out with my close friends and we step into a store, they immediately know which pieces I’d like and would buy,” she says. “I don’t really like fitting myself into a particular category, though; there are just certain things that I love a lot, like high-waisted, classic looking pieces. I’m really into boxy cuts for blouses, and flared pants right now.” An undergraduate majoring in global affairs, Anjali has a thirst for knowledge that goes beyond school. She is currently spending her break interning with a business advisory firm, and has set a goal to set aside more time for personal growth. “I want to utilise any alone-time to read more about causes I’m passionate about, and I really just want to learn more about the world and current affairs.” Perhaps it’s these recent, newfound perspectives that Anjali wishes she could share with her younger self. “There’s a tendency for people to label girls as arrogant or bossy when they’re really just determined or know what they want, and I hate that. So don’t be afraid to speak up for what you want and what you feel you deserve — always humbly and with tact, of course.”
