What’s new since the last time we saw you?
I just learned how to snowboard in Niseko, Hokkaido. It was awesome because I got to spend a lot of time with my brother-in-law. He’s only 16 and I only get to see him once a year. This time round, we walked up and down the mountain together and that’s when I got to talk to him about life and just be a big brother to him. We really connected this trip. Every year, we try to do something with my mother-in-law and spend time together as a family—just with grandma and the grandkids. Once a year is not enough, so we’ve got to make it last!

What’s something people don’t really know about you?
That I know Jazz Ballet. I learnt it in the Singapore Armed Forces Music & Drama Company. I heard that you get to spend the rest of your two years learning how to dance, sing, play music and write scripts, so I was like, I’m in!

Best decision I’ve ever made:
I have three. Firstly, getting married to Jade, my wife. Secondly, getting to know God, and lastly, deciding to be the kind of father that I’m trying to be.

Something I’ve learnt from my children:
That I’m not the centre of the universe. There’s so much more to life than just doing things for myself. I spent the first part of my life taking in as much as I could, experiencing and gaining as much as I could. Now, I realise that I get so much joy out of just sitting down and pour out as much as I know to my kids because that’s what they need.

If you could travel back in time and re-experience a moment all over again, what would it be and why?
I were to pick one, it has to be grocery shopping with mum because she’s not around anymore. It’s one of the everyday things that I’ve always loved doing—going to Cold Storage at Jelita Mall with her. That’s actually the time that we’d talk the most about life. I just miss her so much and I’d love to go back in time to do some grocery shopping with her again.
