You were previously a lawyer, but now work as a consultant in a financial services firm—why the change?
I wanted to try something different and to challenge myself. I’d say the biggest challenge for me when I made the change was having to learn about finance; it was a steep learning curve but also exciting.
What’s a life lesson you’ve learned from your career?
Don’t be afraid to try new things.
Do you have any hobbies?
I like hiking. I love to go to Nepal; I actually visited twice this year—I went to the Everest Base Camp on my first trip, and on the second I did a trek around the Kathmandu Valley.
Are there any places you’d like to visit?
South America! I definitely want to see Mexico; there’s a lot of culture there, but I’d like to just spend a few weeks travelling and seeing the region.
What’s the best advice you’ve received?
Everything in life is a trade. Each decision you make requires you to give up something else, whether it’s in terms of deciding how you spend your time, or the people you’re spending it with.
What’s something you wish you had more time to be doing?
Volunteering. It’s something I want to spend a lot more time doing, and conservation is a pet cause of mine—I always carry a reusable bag with me everywhere I go, and it’s great for cutting down on plastic waste.
