Looking Up

Angela describes herself as optimistic: “I’m always laughing!” she says. As we speak to her, we can’t help but agree — her sunny disposition and open nature is contagious. Her outfit today has a decidedly clean silhouette — flared, knee-length, high-waisted culottes, worn with a sleeveless crop top that shows off just a hint of her midriff. The graphic patterns on her top add a bit of fun to the ensemble, while her pointed, snake-print shoes are an unexpected touch. The whole look is a mix of masculine structures with feminine elements; and even though she dares to bare a little, the outfit still looks appropriate enough for the boardroom — perhaps all she needs to throw on is a sharp black blazer. Angela is from China, but studied finance in a local university and has been working for a few months. “Everyone here is approachable, compared to China,” she says. “And everything is tidy and clean.” Over the weekends, Angela likes to indulge in watching films, movies, and American TV series (“Vampire Diaries is my favourite!”), and also catches up on the on thing that most of us secretly wish we had more of — sleep.
