You’re juggling two professions at once—tell us more about it.
I’m a journalist and a playwright. I’ve been a playwright for more than a decade now. It’s a tough industry to survive in, so most of us actually have full-time jobs, and try to supplement our passion on the side.

How would you describe your usual fashion sense?
I ride a motorcycle to work, so for me, it’s important that my outfit is breathable and allows movement. But because of this, all my shoes are scuffed in different corners (laughs).

Share with us one of your works that you’ve put up over the years.
I recently put up a play titled Rumah Dayak, which talks about how different people can come together to build a home. It was a work of love and labour that was produced independently, but all the shows were sold out, so it felt very rewarding.

Do you find it difficult to keep your passion alive?
I love what I do, whether it’s my full-time job or my theatre work, but it’s always hard to sustain your passion in this day and age, you know? All of us in our theatre group are trying our best, and seeing that keeps me going.

What’s something you’d like to change about society?
It’s hard for women to be accepted fully into what is traditionally considered ‘male-dominated’ hobbies or sports. Personally, I’m very interested in motorbikes, but people might not take me seriously when I speak about it, just because of my gender, so I’d like to change that.
