Tuvshin might still be a student, but she’s learnt the art of corporate dressing well. She keeps her striking, peek-a-boo top classy with a fuss-free pencil skirt and simple, strappy heels, and adds little touches like a skinny yellow belt, tortoiseshell-chained watch, and beaded bracelet to keep the look fresh. What surprises us further is that Tuvshin is only visiting here, and this is her what her everyday look is like. “My friends all know that I dress this way, even on my days off,” she says. “It’s easier for me to always be dressed in an elegant, corporate way. I would say I have quite a minimal style, but I like to experiment with colours and accessories.” Tuvshin says that owes her “an inexhaustible passion for fashion” to her childhood: “I grew up in Mongolia during the transition period from socialism to capitalism, so things were scarce. The country was governed by the socialist regime for 70 years, so everyone had to look the same. Nice things and clothes were luxury to us,” she says. “The grand exposure to fashion happened to me when I went to London for education. London has become a platform to develop and find my style. I was like a kid in a candy store. Most people from former socialist countries have the same stories. However, they tend to spend an astronomical amount of money on brand stuff and designers goods, thinking this is the only way to look prestigious and gain respect. As for me, I think that clothes should not define who you are.” Tuvshin’s lifelong experiences have helped to shape who she is, and what she believes in. “My philosophy is to be flexible, to embrace all your opportunities without unnecessary prejudices and high expectations, and work hard towards what you believe and dream, because everything is possible,” she says. “You are the worst enemy to yourself. Be always positive and grateful and life will reward you with amazing experiences.”
