Struck A Chord
Tell us more about where you’re from and what you miss most about your hometown.
I’m from Sichuan, China, which is a really nice place. There are mountains and rivers, giant pandas, and lots of great food—I’d highly recommend Sichuan to anyone who’s keen to visit!
Having lived in Singapore for almost 10 years, the one thing I’ll always miss is my family. It’s been three years since I last visited home, so I’m hoping to do that soon.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I didn’t have much spare time until recently because I was studying part-time outside of my job in e-commerce. Now that I’ve graduated, however, I’ve been taking the time to explore Singapore a bit more and have been looking out for “happening” events to go to.
What forms of art do you most enjoy?
I really enjoy music, so I like to watch performances and attend concerts with my fiancé, Ethan. Earlier this year, we were at a concert by the Taiwanese pop band, Sunset Rollercoaster, at the Esplanade. It was great despite us being seated at the last row (laughs).
We were also looking forward to a concert by Accusefive, another Taiwanese band that’s coming to Singapore soon, but unfortunately the date doesn’t work out for us.
Now that the borders are opening, I’m hoping that Singapore will see more action in the music scene with more artistes coming over to perform!
Apart from listening to music, do you enjoy making music too?
Yes, I’ve been attending cello lessons since I was in university, but it’s actually quite hard to pick up. To be honest, I wouldn’t say I’ve mastered it just yet (laughs).
