Why do you have a brace on your pinky?
I was rollerblading in a new skate park at Jurong Lake Gardens and fell while attempting a trick. As a result, my little finger bent all the way back when I tried to break my fall, so I have to be in a brace for 16 weeks. Sadly, my wife, Gabby, will kill me if I step foot into a skate park until then, but I’m only three weeks in and am already getting so restless!

On a brighter note, I’m excused from all housework for now, so that’s a blessing in disguise (laughs).

Is there anything you’re hoping to pick up while you’re on this rollerblading hiatus?
I had a crazy robot phase that lasted for five years and I have a whole cupboard full of robot model kits, which drives Gabby mad! I have many that have yet to be built, so maybe I’ll go back to that.

Besides that, I recently discovered squeegee painting on TikTok, and I’m hoping to give that a try too.

Tell us what you do for work. Was this something you always wanted to pursue?
I’ve been a graphic designer for about 10 years. It’s not really something I planned to do; I’ve always wanted to be a lawyer, but I guess design is my calling.

It all started when I got an unexpected opportunity to move to the creative field when I was doing servicing in advertising 15 years back, and now here we are.

Do you have a personal style when it comes to design?
Well, when it comes to work, my style is whatever the client wants. But outside of work, my design style is pretty sleek and simple—everything is black, white, or grey, with a bit of orange sometimes.

How do you like to spend your free time?
Apart from rollerblading, Gabby and I enjoy shopping a lot. It’s not very healthy for the wallet, but it’s healthy for the mind, and happy wife, happy life, right? (laughs)

We also have two Singapore Specials, Lexi and Dora, so our lives pretty much revolve around them both.

What’s the biggest lesson your dogs have taught you?
Carpe diem—live each day to the fullest, be grateful for everything, and don’t hold any grudges because you don’t know what will happen tomorrow. There’s really so much we can learn from them.

Share with us the story of how you and Gabby met.
We met through a friend. When I saw her sitting there all pretty, I thought, “Wow, this girl is hot!” so I sparked a conversation with her and we’ve been together for 10 years since—married for 5. All I can say is that I’m really thankful that she has the patience to put up with my nonsense.
